What inspired you to join the obé fam?
I actually saw Katie Lee’s post about obé and she is quite frankly, my ultimate girl crush. So, I was of course interested enough to investigate (plus she seemed to have so much fun while doing the workouts!). I had been at a gym for the first time in my life a few months prior and honestly, my kids weren’t loving the childcare and it was hard just to get everyone loaded in the car to get over there. I’ve always done home workouts and once I found obé and tried it out, I immediately cancelled my gym membership and haven’t looked back since! I workout early in the morning at about 6AM before my kids are up. This gives me plenty of time to start my day investing in filling up my own cup so I can then spill out and fill up the cups of others. With obé I know I’ve started my day off well and still have plenty of time to get breakfast on the table for the family.
What’s your favorite thing about obé?
I really like the variety of styles you get with the obé trainers. You can tell such effort is put into each workout – to truly build stamina, strength, and even joy! The community as a whole (people I’ve met through Facebook group and even Instagram) are all so friendly and happy to be a part of this special group. I also appreciate the fact that workouts are not extensively long or repetitive so there’s no risk of boredom.
What are your fitness goals and what motivates you to stick to them?
My goals always include first and foremost mental health. After I get movement in, I immediately feel better. I’ve spent most my life with pent up energy (I tend to be anxious) and working out allows this to release in the most beautiful way. I didn’t always see it this way – and I’ll admit I had a hard time staying motivated in the beginning. Once it became a part of my routine and a more about a lifestyle, everything change. Now I look forward to my workouts and am so humbled at the fact that I get to move my body daily!
How have those goals changed since being pregnant (with your 3rd!)?
Since becoming pregnant, my focus has shifted more toward strength and endurance. Cardio has always been an extreme struggle for me, but it is truly essential during pregnancy to feel energized and trained to carry a baby and not feel winded at every corner. I’ve delivered 2 babies before and know that the intense, yet worthy work of labor and the postpartum recovery both require true stamina. I want to be as prepared as possible in order to help my body transition into each phase (with the help of obé!).
What’s something you’re currently obséssed with?
I always love a good favorites list! Current loves: honeycrisp apples with cinnamon + nut butter – I cannot get enough, tuna salad always (I know, I’m not the popular kid to sit by at the lunch table, ha!), Kora Organics Body Balm for my growing belly, listening to country music with the windows rolled down, my Beautycounter Lip Gloss in the shades Dahlia & Bare Shimmer, Sundays Detox Bath Salts by MS Skincare, Freedom Moses sandals for summer, & Rob Thomas novels.
Which class are we most likely to hear your name?
Kat’s Sculpt Power class! I absolutely adore Kat and her training style (including her prenatal classes!).
