What inspired you to join the obé fam?
I saw Katie Lee post something on Instagram that said this awesome thing was “coming soon.” I clicked follow and became instantly intrigued. After a few weeks of watching the posts with curiosity I signed up for a free trial in April of 2018. When my trial was over I went month to month and became an annual member as soon as that became an option. I was instantly hooked! I’m a criminal defense lawyer and my schedule is not so flexible. When I get home at the end of the day I’m exhausted so I need to get my sweat on at 5 am or it’s not getting done. Because I’m lucky enough to be on the west coast, obé is already live streaming when I get up at 4:45am. Before obé I was not a morning person, but the classes are so fun and motivating that now I have no problem getting up before the sun to hang out with some of my favorite people. I really look forward to my workouts and I always make better decisions throughout the day when I start with obé.
What’s your favorite thing about obé?
My favorite thing about obé is the positivity! The trainers are so encouraging and they always seem to say the right things at the right time during a class. If I have a question or need a modification, I just reach out to the trainer and they have a quick answer and always something supportive to say. The Facebook group is also full of positive energy. I love the way the members and trainers help each other out and cheer each other on – in fitness and in life. My work life can be dark and depressing at times. It’s refreshing to be a part of something that is always bright and inspiring.
What are your fitness goals and what motivates you to stick to them?
I just want to be strong and healthy. I have an autoimmune issue and I need to keep my body active and my blood pumping. obé is the only thing I have found that keeps me coming back WILLINGLY. I’m addicted! The best motivation is the feeling I get when I finish a class or when I finally conquer a move that I’ve been struggling with. It’s such a rush!
What’s something you’re currently obséssed with?
I’m obsessed with travel and especially epic road trips with my husband. There are tons of great places to drive to from Phoenix, but a few years ago we decided to fly to Atlanta and drive to Boston over the course of two weeks. We hit Charleston, Virginia Beach, DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC and everything in between. It was such an amazing trip that the following year we flew to North Carolina and drove through Asheville, Nashville, Louisville, Chicago, and Iowa for my cousin’s wedding. This year we are thinking of doing the Pacific Northwest. Traveling to other countries is a great experience that we really love, but we really wanted to see more of America and I feel like we’re just getting started. I love the vast differences in landscape, culture, and food that exist across this country and it’s been really fun to explore.
Which class are we most likely to hear your name?
You can almost always find me in Katie’s Saturday morning classes and since the time changed I’m always in Tiffani’s and Walter’s classes on Wednesdays and Thursdays! I love Megan’s and Madeleine’s Sculpt and Dance, too. Melody is so impressive, Peter’s classes feel like they fly by because I’m laughing the whole time, Kathryn is so inspirational. I can’t get enough! I seriously love all of the trainers and I never ever regret a class!
Anything else the obé fam should know about you?
If anyone reading this is feeling like a class or a trainer is just too hard, I hope they come back to it and try again and again. It’s not always easy, but it’s so important to show up for yourself.
